How to Check Best Buy Open Box Inventory at Your Local Store

One of the most frustrating things about Best Buy open box deals is not knowing if your local store has them. The Best Buy website shows open box pricing, but it does not always tell you which store has the item on the shelf.
We built a free store finder tool that solves this problem. Enter your zip code and a product SKU, and we check up to 5 nearby Best Buy stores for open box availability in real time.
Why Store-Level Inventory Matters
Best Buy open box items are store-specific. A monitor that is open box at one location might be full price at another 10 miles away. The only way to know for sure is to check each store individually, which is what our tool does for you automatically.
Open box items cannot be shipped in most cases. You need to pick them up in person. Knowing which store has the item before you drive there saves time and gas money.
How to Use the Store Finder
Step 1: Find the Product SKU
Every Best Buy product has a 7-digit SKU number. You can find it on the product page on bestbuy.com, usually listed near the price. You can also copy the full product URL from your browser and paste it into our tool. We will extract the SKU automatically.
Step 2: Enter Your Zip Code
We search for Best Buy stores within your selected radius (10, 25, 50, or 100 miles). The default is 25 miles, which typically covers 3 to 5 stores in most metro areas.
Step 3: Check Results
We check each store for availability and show you which ones have the product, the in-store price, and how far away each store is. Stores with availability are highlighted in green so you can spot them immediately.
Tips for Finding the Best Open Box Deals In-Store
- Check early in the week. Returns from the weekend get processed Monday and Tuesday, which means fresh open box inventory often appears mid-week.
- Ask about additional discounts. Some stores will negotiate on open box items, especially if the item has been sitting for a while.
- Inspect before buying. Best Buy grades their open box items (Excellent, Satisfactory, Fair), but it is always worth opening the box and checking for yourself.
- Check multiple stores. Prices can vary between locations for the same open box item because each store sets their own open box pricing.
Combine With Our Price Tracker
Before you buy, check the price history for that product on our tracker. We record every open box price, so you can see if the current price is the lowest it has been or if you should wait for a further drop.
Our system tracks over 120 products with thousands of price data points. For each product, we give you a recommendation: buy now, good deal, or wait for a drop.
Try the Store Finder now and never drive to Best Buy wondering if they have what you want.
